Some members of UKNova are still experiencing problems connecting to www.uknova.com and/or torrent files from this site.
There is a DNS issue in effect at the moment, with users in Scandanavia as well as some UK users particularly affected. DNS issues usually resolve themselves in around 24 hours, but this one seems to be dragging on.
If you are having problems, try connecting to http://www.uknova.tv instead. If you are having problems connecting to torrents, see this thread: http://www.uknova.com/wsgi/topic/view/93649 . Feel free to ask for help there, or via our IRC Channel #uknova, on the ViSiON-iRC network. Use ‘irc.uknova.com’ as a server name.
Pick YOUR fantasy team for the upcoming World Cup. There is a prize of a UKNova mug on offer to the winning manager.
See this thread for details of how to join in.
Phew! Our domains hadn't expired after all, and the Tineola aprilis Bulgarian Avatar Moth infestation has finally been brought under control.
The forums may smell of insecticide and be lightly carcinogenic for a few days.
Some changes are going to be happening with regard to Score here at UKNova. You can read more about that here, and we will be making further announcements as things progress.
But in order to give those who need it a head start in improving their scores, a new guide has been produced. If you are not 'connectable', or if you are unsure whether you are or not, or if you do not know what being 'connectable' means, have a read of *The New Guide To Being Connectable *.
A PDF version is available for download HERE. You may find it easier to work through a hard copy of the information when setting up your PC.
If you wish to comment on the guide, improve it or just ask for clarification, please do it in THIS THREAD.
Of course, not being connectable is not the sole reason for having a low score - there are a few. But if you are trying to improve your score, ensuring that you are connectable will help.
It appears that a major Swedish ISP is attempting to block connections to all BitTorrent trackers running the ‘xbt’ software used at UKNova, for unknown reasons.
If you are in Sweden and have been getting “Connection closed by peer” errors when you try to download from UKNova torrents, please try re-downloading the .torrent file from the site to get one that should, for now, be unaffected by the block.
